Our Story

The first Toastmasters Club in Cyprus was established in 1963 in Nicosia and was named Nicosia Crusaders Toastmasters Club.  The club consisted of American and Cypriot citizens who were fluent in English.  It was a men's only club until 1972 when women were first admitted.  The Crusaders Club organized public events and held meetings at the American Club which then became the Hilton Park Hotel.  Dress code was formal but has relaxed over time.  The second Toastmasters club was established in Limassol in 1994 (Limassol Toastmasters).

In 2016 the 1st Toastmaster Cyprus Public Speaking Competition was organized. This led to a huge rise in public’s interest in the Toastmaster program. So, in 2017 a third club in Nicosia (Super Speakers) and a fourth club in Limassol in 2019 (Positive Minds) was chartered.

With growing number of members, in 2018, Cyprus gained the status of an Area and became part of Toastmasters District 109, that takes under its umbrella clubs from 14 countries. The move has given our members a chance to compete and win contests at international level and bring back home not just trophies but also a lot of positive impact.
